We’ve seen this dish in Korean dramas, mukbang videos and tasted it in Korean restaurants — bulgogi chicken is one of the most popular Korean dishes internationally. The word ‘bulgogi’ is derived from two Korean words — ‘bul’ which means fire and ‘gogi’ which means meat. It is a classic Korean dish and a staple of Korean households — thinly-sliced meat marinated with soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, black pepper and sesame oil grilled on skillets or over an open flame. Savoury, mildly sweet and nutty savory — these meat slices are eaten with rice or wrapped in lettuce with other side ingredients. You can enjoy a Korean BBQ experience at home too! Learn how to make this simple bulgogi chicken dish that your family will love. Firstly, mix chili powder, chili flakes, taucu, ginger, garlic, vinegar, honey, MAGGI Oyster Sauce, sesame seeds and sesame oil in a bowl until well combined to make chili paste sauce. Next, marinate chicken with chili paste for 30 minutes to 1 hour or overnight to let the meat thoroughly absorb the flavours. Then, heat the pan with oil and sear chicken for 5 minutes at each side. Add in the remaining sauce and water, then cook until the amount of water reduces and the gravy becomes sticky for a delectable sauce mixture. Serve it with grilled onions or green peppers, and a variety of other vegetables like carrots and radishes for an extra crunch and additional nutrients.
