A combination of sour, spicy and savoury flavours — tom yam is a distinctively Thai dish. Tom yam is viewed as a crucial element of Thai heritage because it represents the local agricultural communities, reflecting the local dietary culture that has remained constant over time. The tom yam recipe is mainly presented in two versions: a clear soup broth or a dry tom yam that is stir-fried to perfection. The traditional tom yam broth is a clear soup which becomes slightly richer in taste cooked with fat from prawns’ heads. The dry version uses the same herbs and seasonings from the soup, retaining the tom yam recipe’s same tasty flavour — minus the broth! Some examples are tom yam flavoured sauce in a stir-fried seafood dish, fried tom yam noodles and tom yam fried rice. If you are craving for something spicy and flavourful, try out this stir fried Maggi tom yam recipe! Firstly, blanch a packet (or two!) MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles Tom Yam without seasoning for a minute, then set the noodles aside. Prepare the side dishes and base flavouring. In a wok, stir fry some squid and prawns, together with kaffir lime leaves, bird's eye chilli, MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles Tom Yam seasoning and water until evenly mixed and fragrant. After that, add in some greens — carrots, Chinese cabbage and cauliflower and stir-fry for another minute. Lastly, add in the cooked noodles and mix well.
