On the eve of Chinese New Year, Chinese families will gather for a big reunion dinner, which involves the extended family. Many Chinese traditional dishes come with their own symbolism; with the more common ones being health, wealth, and prosperity. This reunion dinner is the time where these traditional dishes are served. Some of the main dishes include fish, dumplings, spring rolls, glutinous rice balls, lime, rice cake as well as longevity noodles. Like its name suggests, the longevity noodles is a symbol of happiness and a long time, and this symbolism has been around since the Han Dynasty. Outside of Chinese New Year, the longevity noodles, or yee mee, is also popular during birthday celebrations. It is said that if you eat these noodles from end to end without it breaking, your wish will be granted. These noodles are usually served without being cut, to symbolise a long life, and it's not limited to the new year. Since there are no rules as to what type of noodle you have to use for this longevity noodles, let’s try to create something a little different by using MAGGI® Noodles. Serve up a special stir-fry noodle recipe with the Abundant Longevity Stir Fry MAGGI® Noodle! It’s a balanced meal that’s also really easy to prepare. This simple, yet delicious recipe features fresh ingredients like squid, ginger, sesame oil, bean sprouts and sweet Palermo chillies along with spring onions as an appetizing garnish. On top of that, we’ll also be using the tastemaker from the Chicken MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles. This tastemaker is made with a combination of aromatic herbs and spices, which will definitely enhance the flavours of this dish. The noodles of Malaysia’s favourite MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles is also made with a mixture of Australian wheat, which is a great source of protein, and premium Australian white flour, giving it that lovely, springy texture. Additionally, the sweetness from the boiled squid brings out the taste of fresh seafood. Other than this stir-fry noodle recipe, you can also try the many special recipes brought to you by MAGGI® for Chinese New Year, like the Joyful Laughter Spicy Prawn, Prosperity Steamed Red Grouper, Golden Steamed Pumpkin Cake, and Lucky Braised Abalone Oyster.
