Burritos are a popular Tex-Mex dish across the United States. It is a stuffed tortilla roll filled with a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables — give it an extra kick of flavour by topping it with sauces, salsas or sour cream! There are many different interpretations of the origin of burrito’s name, but little evidence to back up these claims. Unknown to many, the word “burrito” translates to “little donkey” in Spanish. A commonly accepted story is that a street food vendor from Mexico would sell food in a cart pulled by a donkey. He kept the food warm by wrapping it with flour tortillas, and this dish swiftly became popular because of the convenience of holding and eating it on-the-go. Some also think that the rolled tortilla resembles donkey ears or rolled packs carried by burros, which eventually leads to the acceptance as the origin of the word.

In contemporary society, burritos are served at fast food joints, fusion restaurants, bars and also as healthy meal alternatives. Tasty yet simple to prepare, here’s a burrito recipe for you to try out at home! Firstly, slice chicken fillets into long slices. Then, make a batter by stirring in flour together with half a cup of water and a few pinches of MAGGI® CukupRasa™. Dip the chicken slices into batter and shallow fry them for 5-8 minutes.
